Coordinating a Multi-Unit Governor Overhaul
The service scope covered seven Woodward UG-25+ governors, including units serving D/G and COPT systems and one spare. With multiple governors requiring individual inspection, overhaul and component replacement, the project required careful coordination between onboard intervention and workshop activities, while addressing the specific service requirements of each unit.
Phased Onboard & Workshop Service
The operational governors were removed and reinstalled progressively across three onboard attendances, allowing the workshop servicing to be coordinated in stages rather than handling all units simultaneously.
This phased approach helped reduce service-related downtime while maintaining clear technical continuity between onboard intervention and workshop operations.
Complete Woodward UG-25+ Governor Overhaul
Each governor underwent complete disassembly, cleaning and inspection, followed by visual and dimensional checks, required repair works and reassembly. General repair kits, including bearings, seals and gaskets, were renewed as part of the overhaul. Additional components were replaced according to the requirements of each individual unit, including drive shafts, gerotor pumps and UG-25 linkage components.

Test-Bench Verification
Following reassembly, all seven Woodward UG-25+ governors underwent running tests and adjustments on a governor test bench according to manufacturer standards and specifications.
The complete process—from onboard removal to inspection, component replacement, testing and phased reinstallation—gave the client one technical partner for the full governor service scope, helping reduce coordination requirements and supporting reliable governor performance and overall vessel reliability.
