Woodward UG-10 Governor
The Woodward UG-10 governor is a high-work-output mechanical-hydraulic governor designed for precise speed control of diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines, as well as steam turbines in marine and power-generation applications.
Woodward UG-10 Governor – Features & Technical Overview
The UG-10 is part of Woodward’s proven UG governor family and shares the same robust construction and mounting footprint as the UG-5.7 and UG-8, while delivering higher work output for demanding applications.
Key technical characteristics (UG-10):
- Mechanical-hydraulic governor for control of diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines, and steam turbines
- High work output: approx. 15.9 N·m (11.7 lb-ft) at the terminal shaft for positive, reliable actuation of fuel racks or steam valves
- Internal oil pressure: about 1034 kPa (150 psi) operating pressure, higher than UG-5.7/UG-8 to support the increased work capacity
- Self-contained oil sump: around 1.9 L capacity with relief-valve/accumulator system for stable hydraulic performance and simplified installation
- Isochronous or droop control: dashpot and needle-valve compensation enable very stable speed control, with adjustable droop for accurate load sharing on generator sets
- Drive & speed range: designed for governor drive speeds in the 375–1500 rpm range, with a recommended constant-speed operating band from 1000 to 1500 rpm; suitable for clockwise or counter-clockwise drive rotation
These features make the Woodward UG-10 governor a widely used solution for reliable, long-term engine speed control in heavy-duty environments.
