Main Engine Overhaul
The main engine scope covered all six cylinder units. Cylinder covers and piston assemblies were removed and refitted, with new piston rings installed.
All six cylinder liners and their cooling jackets were dismantled. Work included cooling-channel cleaning, dye penetrant inspection and O-ring replacement before reassembly.
Additional work included:
- Inspection of one main bearing, one crankpin bearing and one crosshead bearing, including clearance measurements.
- Replacement of 18 fuel injection valves.
- Renewal of the cooling-jacket O-rings on one cylinder cover.
Pump Overhaul and Shaft Restoration
Workshop overhauls covered a cargo pump, a ballast pump, a vacuum condenser seawater pump and an atmospheric pump. Each scope included dismantling, cleaning, component inspection, shaft and impeller checks, reassembly and running tests.
A second cargo pump received mechanical seal and bearing replacements in situ. Additional work included impeller balancing, machining of cargo pump impeller and mouth-ring surfaces to establish the required clearances, and stripping pump repairs.
Robotic laser cladding was used to restore six journal areas on a cargo pump shaft and one mechanical-seal journal on a ballast pump shaft. After preliminary machining and preparation, the surfaces were rebuilt, machined to standard dimensions, ground and superfinished. Final measurements were recorded.

Anchor Windlass Reconditioning
The port-side anchor windlass was removed and transferred to the workshop for dismantling and inspection. Work covered the main and intermediate shafts, drums, brake and clutch mechanisms.
Shaft restoration included rebuilding seven main-shaft journals and five intermediate-shaft journals using submerged arc welding (SAW). Final machining was followed by alignment checks and dye penetrant inspection.
Six G12 phosphor-bronze slide bearings were manufactured. Two drum bearing housings were machined to correct ovality, while additional work included pinion bore machining and bearing replacement.
The windlass was reassembled and returned onboard for installation.

Inspection, Reassembly and Testing
The project combined engine maintenance with specialised restoration of pump and deck machinery components. Dimensional reporting, bearing-clearance measurements, shaft alignment checks and pump running tests formed part of the documented scope.
This SULZER 6RT-flex68TB overhaul demonstrates INJEGOV’s ability to support multiple mechanical systems within a single repair project, combining onboard work with dedicated workshop capabilities.
