Geislinger VDAMP® and VDAMP®XT
The Geislinger VDAMP® and VDAMP®XT are viscous dampers that protect engine camshafts and crankshafts from possible damage caused by torsional vibrations and help to avoid barred speed ranges. The vibration energy is converted into heat, dissipating from the damper’s surface into the ambient air. Due to the improved Geislinger calculation method, the viscous damper can be perfectly fitted to any individual applications.
The Geislinger VDAMP® and VDAMP®XT protect engine camshafts and crankshafts from damage caused by torsional vibration and help to avoid barred speed ranges. The VDAMP® is a viscous torsional vibration damper consisting of an outer housing and an inner inertia ring guided by bearing elements. They form a narrow gap filled with highly viscous silicone oil, coupling the ring mechanically to the housing by shearing the oil in between.
The sophisticated bearing material improves the reliability of this damper. Furthermore, the Geislinger VDAMP® is appreciated by customers as a cost-effective solution for less demanding applications. In-house oil analysis at Geislinger ensures fast response and lifetime forecasts.
