Provision crane Hydraulic Piston Rod reconditioning with Laser Cladding

The repair of cast iron, steel, or aluminum pistons is an advanced, cost-effective solution

Because of its many advantages, laser cladding slowly replaces conventional hard chrome plating on Hydraulic Pistons reconditioning.

Evolution in laser cladding technology enables us to recondition thinner and longer parts, such as Provision Crane Piston Rods. Due to meager heat input and distortion, the reconditioning of small diameter and thin-walled parts is possible while simultaneously reducing the need for post-weld heat treatment.

The above applies especially in the most demanding applications like marine, offshore, oil & gas, and, mining, especially once one considers that it allows for hardness up to 55 – 58 HRC.

Laser Cladding assets compared to Chrome Plating
  • Full metallurgical bond
  • Thicker layer compared to hard chrome plating
  • Material, not prone to microcracking or peeling off
  • High impact resistance
  • Excellent anti-corrosion properties that maintain the surface shiny, without corrosion, even after a 5000 hours salt spray test
  • Environmentally friendly process

Our state-of-the-art machinery enables us to clad and grind to perfect surface finish rods more than 5 meters in length. At our mechanical workshop, by using laser cladding technology, we apply special powders as chrome replacements.

The above applies especially in the most demanding applications like marine, offshore, oil & gas, and, mining, especially once one considers that it allows for hardness up to 55 – 58 HRC.
