Auxiliary Engine Overhaul
(MAN B&W 6L23/30H)
Our expert team carried out a complete overhaul of the MAN B&W 6L23/30H auxiliary engine, ensuring optimal functionality, reliability, and extended service life. The process included full crankshaft renewal, precision machining, and comprehensive fuel system maintenance. Each component was meticulously inspected, repaired, and reassembled with high-quality parts to restore peak efficiency and ensure smooth operation under demanding conditions.
INJEGOV SA carried out a complete crankshaft and engine block renewal on a MAN B&W 6L23/30H Diesel Generator as part of a major engine overhaul in Turkey. The process included dismantling all covers, pistons with connecting rods, liners, and fuel pumps, along with removal of exhaust and inlet manifolds, piping, insulation, sensors, and cabling. The turbocharger, speed governor, vibration damper, and flywheel were also dismantled. The camshaft and its bearings were fully overhauled and inspected, and both tie rods and engine holding-down bolts were serviced. The crankshaft was removed and transported to a suitable space, while the engine block was completely stripped of all attached parts and reassembled on a new block using fresh gaskets and joints. Following rigging and transport, the new block was installed in the engine room, and all components were reassembled in good working order. The new crankshaft was aligned with the flywheel, axial clearances were recorded, and the engine was aligned with the generator using metal shims. Locking pins were fabricated and installed as needed, ensuring a precise and reliable result fully in line with OEM specifications.
MAN B&W 6L23/30H Crankshaft & Engine Block Renewal
- Removed and replaced the crankshaft and engine block.
- Conducted full reassembly with new gaskets and fittings.
- Aligned the engine and flywheel for optimal operation.
This process was crucial in restoring the auxiliary engine to its optimal state. The replacement of the crankshaft and engine block addressed previous wear and potential failures, ensuring smooth operation. By aligning the engine and flywheel precisely, we minimized vibration and mechanical stress, enhancing overall performance and longevity.
MAN B&W 6L23/30H Cylinder Heads & Liners
Each of the six cylinder heads underwent full dismantling and workshop servicing, including:
-
Removal of rocker arms, safety valves, indicators, starting valves, injectors, and inlet/exhaust valves from the cylinder cover.
-
Chemical cleaning of all components to remove carbon deposits and impurities.
-
Calibration and dye-penetrant testing of critical components.
-
Hydraulic pressure testing of valves and cover to ensure integrity under load.
-
Reassembly using Owner-supplied genuine spare parts and refitting on engine upon completion.
- Cleaning of cylinder liners’ cooling surfaces and restoring permeability to ensure proper heat exchange
Inlet and exhaust rocker arms were fully dismantled, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled after checking bearing clearances as per maker’s specs, while safety valves were dismantled from the covers, cleaned, calibrated, dye-tested, and reassembled with Owner-supplied spares before refitting.
MAN B&W 6L23/30H Piston & Connecting Rod overhaul
INJEGOV SA undertook the complete servicing of pistons with connecting rods as part of the MAN B&W engine overhaul. Each unit was dismantled and removed to the workshop, where the piston head and rod were separated for detailed inspection. The pin, bush, big-end, small-end, liner, and piston grooves were thoroughly cleaned, calibrated, and subjected to dye-penetrant and hydraulic pressure testing. Upon completion, the components were reassembled using Owner-supplied new piston rings, and the connecting rods were tightened according to the maker’s specifications to ensure optimal engine performance and reliability.
Other Parts Reconditioning
Fuel Pumps
INJEGOV SA carried out the complete dismantling, cleaning, overhauling, and calibration of six single-type high-pressure fuel oil pumps. Worn-out components were renewed using Owner-supplied spare parts, and each unit was reassembled in accordance with maker’s specifications.
Fresh Water Pump | Lube oil filter | Air Cooler | Lube Oil Cooler
The fresh water pump was overhauled with full cleaning, measurements, and reassembly. The lube oil filter underwent chemical cleaning, gasket and o-ring renewal with Owner-supplied spares, and was refitted. The air cooler was chemically cleaned, pressure tested, epoxy-coated, and reassembled multiple times to resolve leakage. The plate-type lube oil cooler was hydro-jet cleaned, crack-tested, re-gasketed with OEM parts, and pressure tested for service readiness.
Alternator Rotor & Bearing Reconditioning
The alternator rotor was placed on a lathe for pre-machining of the two bearing journal areas. Both journals were reconditioned using robotic laser cladding, followed by precision grinding to restore them to standard dimensions. Additionally, the bearing underwent rebabbiting of the white metal lining, then machined to standard dimensions to ensure proper fit, alignment, and reliable operation.
