INJEGOV carried out comprehensive overhauling and precision inspection works on a vessel equipped with a MAK 7M43 main engine and a Yanmar 6N21AL-V auxiliary engine, ensuring full restoration of reliability and performance.
Scope of Work
The project involved the complete dismantling, cleaning, and overhauling of cylinder heads, rocker arms, injectors, pistons, connecting rods, and safety valves.
Main and crankpin bearings were inspected and renewed where necessary. A new crankshaft vibration damper was also installed, requiring manual handling due to limited onboard crane capacity — an operation successfully executed using coordinated lifting methods and safety precautions.
For the auxiliary engine, INJEGOV performed a full top and bottom overhaul, including renewal of valve guides and seats, injector holder reconditioning, and honing of connecting rod bores to achieve correct bearing contact.
Workshop Capability and Turnaround Time
Thanks to INJEGOV’s advanced workshop infrastructure—equipped with two robotic laser cladding machines—the reconditioning of all nine piston rods was completed within just two weeks. This capability ensures not only high-quality and precise results but also significantly reduced turnaround times, minimizing vessel downtime and improving operational efficiency.
Workshop Reconditioning & Precision Inspections
Workshop operations included injector nozzle reconditioning, valve grinding, and exhaust valve guide renewals. Dimensional checks such as crankshaft deflection, liner ovality, bearing clearances, and piston groove measurements confirmed all parameters within maker’s tolerances.
Results
Following completion, both engines were restored to optimal condition and fully aligned with OEM quality standards. The project highlights INJEGOV’s expertise in executing complete dual-engine overhauls, combining workshop precision with onboard technical excellence.
